The Good Man Loses

Carried away like dandelions in the wind, are the ideals you so cherish
The surroundings you gaze upon look foreign and ripe with blemish
Astounded by the chaos thriving in the world you thought you knew
Blame the upbringing, you must not for that is your due
Blame yourself for your naivety, you must for life is blue
The Good man knows this is true
The nice guy you know is a goner
The deed is done and the damage is forever
The raiders of deception have waxed greatly and down comes his hover
You’re left to tend to your broken heart cursing him as a scorned lover
Oh! The facade of that reality is broken and indeed it is all over
The Good man knows this and accepts it
You have questioned everything
On bended knees, you fall
This isn’t what you were told by the man on the hill
This isn’t what was meant to happen as the blades whirl on lady Red’s corn mill
This isn’t what I thought it was going be when he taught me how to seal man’s moral landfill
The Good man believes there’s more still
Was he wrong
Was he wrong when he said the good you do is a healing art form that stitches back a piece of this torn world
Was it all a lie
Was it all a lie when he said it takes the strongest person to place others before himself, to remain selfless even when it was a burden
Was it pure insanity
Was it pure insanity to remain standing on the precipice, to remain rooted firmly in this belief contrary to what was out there
Was It foolishness
Was it foolishness on your part to exercise compassion and gentility when it required none
Was it stupidity
Was it sheer stupidity to believe that giving will ultimately result in you receiving
This isn’t what was supposed to happen
The Good man sees the truth as mishappen
In this ruthless and unforgiving society, what is indeed the reality
You’ve been railroaded on countless occasions
In so many instances, you’ve witnessed lies sold to the vulnerable and needy as potions
You’ve watched as the gullible and envious smear their skins with libels as lotions
Time and time again, you’ve been exploited
With every misstep, comes a brand new devilry
With every closed alley, screams the wails of heresy
With every opened door, accompanies acts of sodomy
Nothing resembles clean and there’s no escape in sight, no autonomy
The Good man falls deeper into this midnight purgatory
There’s no forthcoming reason to explain away the torment
No justifiable plan to solve this prevailing problem at the advent
No actionable Intel to heal this cancerous infection by rooting out its ferment
So I refuse to heed the call of benevolence
Because at the end of the day
He who has lost his heart rules
Nothing gives here but the spiel of the tainted
Lie or be lied to
Hate or be hated
No angels shielding from the claws of hatred
Only angels you see are the ones working the poles hard at night
Cladded in uniforms that are either latex or naked
The Good man loses unabated
As you find yourself here, bear it in mind
Make for yourself canticles to detail the bind
Sing it like an initiation song to prepare yourself for the travels ahead
And live it every day with this thought in your head
The Good man loses everything
The Good man loses all that he holds dear
The Good man loses himself
The Good man loses
